Photo Collage Blanket: How Many Photos Fit (3, 4 or 6)?

A photo collage blanket usually holds between three and eight photos, and the right number depends on how big you want each face to be. Fewer photos means bigger, clearer faces. More photos means more memories, in smaller tiles. At PawMoM, our photo collage blankets currently come in 3, 4 and 6-photo layouts, and each one prints on sizes from a 30x40 inch lap blanket up to a 60x80 inch full-length throw.
So the short answer: pick 4 if you want each photo to really stand out, and pick 6 if you have too many favorites to choose from. Here is how to decide.
How many photos fit on a photo collage blanket?
Collage layouts often use 4, 6 or 8 photos. That is because those numbers make a neat grid. Two rows of two. Two rows of three. Two rows of four.
Here is what you can order from us right now:
- 3 photos: for when you have a few treasured favorites.
- 4 photos: the layout you will see most in our collection. Each photo gets a good amount of space.
- 6 photos: a tile grid with one custom word in the middle.
You will find all of these in our photo collage blankets collection. Our live designs top out at six photos for now. If you have spotted an 8-photo layout somewhere, the same rule still applies: more tiles means each one is smaller.
4 photos: when each face should shine
Four is the sweet spot for most pet moms. Every photo gets a big tile, so you can still see whiskers, eyebrows and that one floppy ear.
Four works well when:
- You have one pet and four great photos from different years.
- You want a memorial blanket where each picture tells part of the story.
- Your photos are a little older or softer, and you do not want them shrunk down.
Our Forever In My Heart Pet Memorial Photo Blanket is a good example. It sets four of your photos among black-and-white patchwork tiles, with the words already there. You add your pet's name, and that is it.

6 photos: when you cannot pick just four
Some of us have a camera roll that is mostly dog. Or cat. Or bunny. If narrowing it down to four feels impossible, go for six.
Six photos work well when:
- You want to show your pet at different ages, from baby to now.
- You have more than one pet and want them all on one blanket.
- You like a busy, cheerful look more than a calm one.
Our Best Cat Ever Photo Collage Blanket puts six of your photos in a tile grid. The word in the middle is yours to choose, along with its color and font. Swap in any word that fits your pet.

Does the blanket size change how many photos fit?
The number of photos stays the same on each design. What changes is how big each tile prints. A bigger blanket gives every photo more room.
Our collage blankets come in five sizes, in inches:
- 30x40: a lap blanket for the couch or a car seat.
- 40x50: a comfy throw for one person.
- 40x60: a longer throw that covers your legs.
- 50x60: a roomy throw to share with your pet.
- 60x80: full length, big enough to cover a bed.
The smaller two sizes come in fleece. From 40x60 and up, you can also choose sherpa backing for extra cozy weight.
A simple rule: if you picked six photos, lean toward one of the larger sizes. That way each face still has room to be seen. If you picked four, even a lap size can look great.
How to choose photos that look good together
A collage looks best when the photos feel like a set. You do not need fancy pictures. Phone photos are fine. Just keep a few things in mind.
- Pick clear faces. Your pet's face should fill a good part of each photo.
- Mix it up. Try a sleepy photo, a goofy one, an outdoor one and a cuddle one.
- Watch the light. Daylight photos usually print brighter than dark indoor ones.
- Skip the tiny crops. If you have to zoom way in to see your pet, that photo may print blurry.
- Think about color. On a black-and-white design, photos with good contrast will pop.
If you are stuck between two photos, choose the one where you can see your pet's eyes.
How we make your collage blanket
This part is what makes PawMoM different from grabbing a blanket off a shelf. Nothing is printed until you order it.
Here is how it works:
- You design it in the PawMoM studio. Upload your photos and set any words. The preview updates as you go, so you see your blanket before you buy.
- You pick your size and fabric. Soft printed fleece on every size, with sherpa backing on the larger ones.
- We make it to order. Your blanket is printed and finished for you in 3 to 5 business days.
- We ship it. US shipping takes 7 to 15 days, and we email you tracking once it leaves. Tracking can take up to 48 hours to start showing updates.
Because each blanket is made just for you, give yourself a little extra time if it is a gift. If a personalized blanket arrives defective or damaged, we replace it free.
Caring for your photo blanket
You want those faces to stay bright for years, so a little care goes a long way. Our own care advice for these blankets is simple:
- Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with like colors.
- Tumble dry low.
- Do not bleach.
- Iron on low if needed.
The printed fleece is color-fast and machine washable. That is good news if your pet loves the blanket as much as you do.
So, 4 or 6?
Go with 4 if you want big, clear faces or you are making a memorial piece. Go with 6 if you have lots of favorites or more than one pet. Then pick a size that gives your photos room to breathe.
